Quicksafe V3 Lone Worker Alarm: Features, Customer Examples and Over 20 Years of Experience

When someone works alone, raising the alarm should not depend entirely on being able to reach a mobile phone. The Quicksafe V3 lone worker alarm combines an SOS button, automatic man-down detection, phone calls and text alerts with GPS location. It is a dedicated safety device that operates without a smartphone app, online account or monitoring platform.

Behind the device is an established UK business: Quicksafe has been supplying safety products since 2003, bringing more than 20 years of experience to organisations looking to protect people who work alone.

Over 20 years of experience in lone worker safety

Choosing a lone worker alarm is about more than comparing specifications. It also means choosing a supplier that understands how the equipment will be used and what organisations need from it.

Quicksafe began by supplying safety products before developing its own lone worker alarm range, drawing on experience of the features businesses needed and the limitations of existing devices. Today, that range includes the V3, our third-generation lone worker and man-down alarm.

For an employer, the important questions remain practical: can a worker raise an alert, can the device detect a potential problem automatically, and will the right people know that assistance is needed?

Which organisations has Quicksafe supplied?

Quicksafe’s customer history includes NHS organisations, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and the British Antarctic Survey. Our published customer examples also include Cromwell Tools, City Electrical Factors, Howmet Aerospace, HARSCO RAIL and Wiltshire Farm Foods. These are examples from Quicksafe’s wider supply history and product range, rather than V3-specific case studies.

Whether you are purchasing for a small business or a larger organisation, the starting point should be the same: understand the risks faced by your lone workers and decide how an alert will lead to an effective response.

What are the main features of the Quicksafe V3?

Three-layer man-down protection: fall, tilt and no motion

The Quicksafe V3 provides three complementary automatic alert functions, rather than relying only on a manually operated panic button:

  • Fall detection: adjustable sensitivity helps tailor the response to detected falls or impacts.
  • Optional tilt detection: an additional alert function based on the device’s position, with settings that can be adapted to the user’s activity.
  • No-motion detection: an alert when movement is not detected within a configured period.

Together, these functions provide ways to raise an alarm when a worker may be unable to press the SOS button. The settings should be selected for the job and tested in normal working conditions; automatic detection should not be treated as a guarantee that every incident will be recognised.

SOS button, sequential calls and text alerts

The V3’s SOS button allows the wearer to trigger an emergency alert manually. Once an alarm is activated, the device calls nominated emergency contacts in sequence and sends text alerts containing GPS location information.

This combines an audible incoming call with a written alert, helping the nominated responder understand that assistance is needed and where the device is located.

Two-way speech and an amber alert button

The V3 supports two-way voice communication, allowing the worker and the person answering the call to speak through the device. That conversation can help the responder understand what has happened and decide what action to take.

An amber alert function also provides a one-button call to a secondary contact. This gives the wearer a separate way to contact a nominated person, according to the organisation’s agreed procedures.

No smartphone app or online monitoring account

The Quicksafe V3 is a self-monitored lone worker alarm. Alerts go to the people your organisation nominates, rather than requiring a third-party monitoring platform.

There is no worker app to install, no monitoring dashboard to log into and no requirement to use an employee’s personal smartphone to operate the alarm. This can suit organisations that prefer to manage incidents through their own supervisors, duty managers or response teams.

The important distinction is that self-monitored does not mean nobody needs to respond. Your organisation remains responsible for deciding who receives alerts and how incidents are handled.

Compact, waterproof and supplied with a charger

The V3 weighs 53g and measures 62 × 47 × 17mm. It has a waterproof casing and is supplied with a pendant lanyard and base station charger. Low-battery alerts help users identify when charging is needed.

How could the V3 be used in your workplace?

The following are illustrative examples, not reports of incidents involving the customers named above. Suitability should always be assessed against the work being undertaken.

A maintenance employee working away from colleagues.
A worker inspecting an isolated part of a building could wear the V3 so that an SOS activation or configured man-down trigger alerts a supervisor. The practical benefit is having both manual and automatic ways to raise the alarm.

A member of staff visiting different locations.
A mobile employee could use the SOS button to contact an on-duty manager. GPS information in the text alert could help identify the location, while two-way speech could provide more detail about the situation.

A cleaner or caretaker working outside normal hours.
An organisation could nominate its evening duty manager and backup responders to receive alerts. Before using the device, it should confirm that those contacts are available throughout the working period and know what to do when an alarm arrives.

In each example, the device is one part of the arrangement. The other part is a clear, tested response procedure.

How much does the Quicksafe V3 cost?

At the time of writing, the Quicksafe V3 starts from £249.98 excluding VAT, including a SIM with 12 months of UK line rental. The included monthly allowance is 60 text messages, 20 minutes of calls and 10MB of data. UK-based technical support is also included.

The V3 is purchased outright rather than rented under an ongoing equipment contract. However, contract-free does not mean there are no future connectivity costs: the SIM service needs renewing after the included term to continue using mobile alerts.

Is the Quicksafe V3 compliant with BS 8484?

The Quicksafe V3 is specified as BS 8484:2022 compliant — Section 5, Device. The scope matters: this is a device-compliance statement, not a claim that purchasing the alarm certifies an organisation’s entire lone-working arrangements or monitoring service.

Employers still need appropriate risk assessments, training, supervision, communication and emergency procedures. The Health and Safety Executive advises regularly testing monitoring systems and emergency arrangements for lone workers.

Which mobile network does the V3 use?

The current V3 brochure specifies an Emergency Services Network-grade SIM operating on EE’s commercial 4G infrastructure. Calls and text alerts depend on mobile connectivity, so checking operation in the places where staff actually work should be part of deployment.

Who responds when an alarm is raised?

The V3 alerts your nominated contacts. Those people need an agreed procedure for answering, assessing the situation and arranging assistance.

Before issuing devices, establish who will cover each shift, what happens when the first contact is unavailable, and how responders will request emergency help when needed. Train workers to use the equipment and regularly test the complete process—not just the alarm button.

Discuss your lone worker requirements with Quicksafe

For organisations looking for a dedicated alarm without apps or a third-party monitoring platform, the V3 offers a combination of manual alerts, automatic man-down functions and direct communication with nominated responders.

Contact Quicksafe Security to discuss your working environment, the number of devices required and how the V3 could fit into your existing lone worker procedures.
